I believe that all mothers and babies have a right to safe, gentle and joyful birth experiences. Birth is empowering and the individualized, evidence informed, client centered care that midwives provide, helps to build a foundation that parents will use throughout parenting and life.
At the age of 16 I was invited to attend a home birth. During that experience, I recognized that childbirth was designed to work and that preserving the time-tested art of midwifery was important to me. That’s how my journey began. I’ve given birth to two boys, my first in 2000 and my second in 2014. I became a certified doula in 2002. I then went to college to earn my BA in Community Studies with an emphasis on Women’s Health Issues from UC Santa Cruz. I completed midwifery school through The National Midwifery Institute and gained my clinical requirements through apprenticeship with community home birth midwives and at Thrive Birth Center in Santa Rosa, CA. I completed midwifery school and became a Licensed Midwife in 2018. I have since been working as a community midwife in both home and birth center settings. I am a Certified Professional Midwife through NARM and a Licensed Midwife through the California Medical Board. I carry current CPR/BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation certifications. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, nature and sewing.
